Having the courage to say “I don’t know”.

It feels especially true in professional situations where your career rides on the impression you make. There is that general fear of being perceived as not knowing what you are doing. But I ask you, is it better to be perceived as a know it all or even worse, as a liar?

In hindsight I’d say that in 99.9% of situations it would be better to admit that you don’t know something, but offer to find out right away. Not only do you get to show initiative and honesty, you get to learn something at the same time. It feels like win-win to me. You tell me. Leave a comment and tell me how you feel about it.
