Adult Jujitsu

Jujitsu is the martial art created as a last resort for warriors from Japan. Practitioners relied on skill rather than strength as it was often used when exhausted or injured. This makes it relevant to all body types, and eliminates an attacker’s advantages of size and aggression. It is every bit the real, useful art. At the same time, it has a range of appropriate response to live within the law and personal responsibility. Our students are men and women from all age groups with a broad range of skill levels, many with no previous training. It also involves practice both with and against a variety of weapons making it relevant and applicable to modern self-defense situations. Like Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students will practice both with and against opponents to gain skill in techniques and learn how to defeat real resistance.

Our system of jujitsu is rare, in that we apply the principle of being flexible and adaptive even to our curriculum. Our roots run deep in the traditions of Japan, but we open ourselves to any and all experience, practice or technique that does not violate the core movement patterns or principles of our craft. We choose to be a closed-door koryu style school in that we will not release our material to the public, nor will we compete in any kind of tournament. To us, the goal of using our training is to go home safely regardless of what life throws at us.
